From the Tomb's Silence, Life Everlasting

On this most sacred morn, we stand at the threshold of the empty tomb, beholding not absence, but the definitive triumph of Life over death. Let us awaken to the joyous reality of Christ's Resurrection, embracing the new life He grants us and shining forth His light in a world longing for hope.

Dearest brethren and beloved in Christ,

Hark! On this most blessed and hallowed Sunday morn, the very air hums with a celestial melody, a joyous fanfare resounding through the ages. Today, the tomb lies empty, the stone rolled away, and the grave has surrendered its captive. Today, Christ, our Lord, has burst forth from the shackles of death, radiant in His immortal glory, forever vanquishing the darkness of sin and despair. Alleluia! Alleluia! This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!

The Dawn of a New Creation

As the first rays of dawn pierce the eastern sky, they herald not merely a new day, but a New Creation. For just as on the first day, God spoke light into being from the void, so too on this third day, from the void of the sepulcher, He spoke eternal Life into humanity. The Resurrection is not merely an event of the past; it is the axis upon which all salvation history turns, the foundational truth that infuses every moment of our existence with meaning and hope. Without it, our faith is in vain, our preaching empty, and our hope a fleeting whisper. But Christ IS risen! And in His rising, He has raised us up with Him.

Behold, The Empty Tomb!

Let us, with Peter and John, hasten to the sepulcher this morning. What do we find? Not the lifeless body of our Savior, but the linen cloths folded neatly, the burial shroud cast aside. No ghastly evidence of decay, but the triumphant sign of a life transformed, transfigured, made utterly new. The absence of the Body speaks profoundly of His glorious Presence. It is a mystery profound and awe-inspiring, one that demands not only our intellectual assent but the surrender of our entire being to its truth. As Saint John, beholding the empty tomb, "saw and believed" (John 20:8), so too are we called to see beyond the visible, to perceive with the eyes of faith the supernal reality of Christ’s victory.

This Resurrection is not an escape from human suffering, but its ultimate redemption. It means that every tear shed in sorrow, every agony endured, every injustice suffered, is now bathed in the light of eternal hope. The cross, once an instrument of shame, now stands as the tree of life, its branches reaching into the very heart of the risen Lord. His wounds, though still visible, are no longer signs of defeat, but luminous badges of triumph, pledges of our own future resurrection.

Living the Resurrected Life

What does it mean for us, humble servants of Christ and co-workers in His vineyard, to live as an Easter people? It means to shake off the dust of sin, to cast away the old leaven of malice and wickedness, and to don the fresh garments of sincerity and truth, as St. Paul exhorts us (1 Cor 5:8). It means to seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God (Col 3:1). Our Baptism has already initiated us into this resurrected life; let us daily renew its vows, striving to die to self and rise with Christ in every thought, word, and deed.

Our lives, illuminated by the Paschal Mystery, ought to be a continuous Alleluia! This joy is not a superficial cheerfulness, but a deep, abiding peace rooted in the certain hope of eternal life. It is a joy that perseveres through trials, knowing that even in suffering, Christ is present, transforming our burdens into stepping stones towards glory.

"Let no one mourn his poverty, for the universal Kingdom has been revealed. Let no one bewail his transgressions, for forgiveness has dawned from the grave. Let no one fear death, for the Saviour's death has set us free. He has destroyed it by enduring it." – Saint John Chrysostom, Paschal Homily

Our Paschal Call to Mission

Indeed, the joy of Easter is too immense, too transformative, to be contained within ourselves. It compels us, like the women at the tomb, to run and proclaim the good news to all. This is the very heart of our work at Sanctus Mission: to bear witness to the Risen Christ, to spread the light of His truth and love to every corner of the earth. Whether through supporting the brave missionaries on distant shores or empowering artisans whose skilled hands craft beauty for His glory, we are all participants in this grand Easter proclamation. Let us live with the radiant confidence of those who have seen the empty tomb and believed, becoming living testaments to the power of the Resurrection in our homes, our communities, and our world.

May our hearts be ever alight with the Paschal fire, our steps firm in the path of truth, and our voices ever ready to sing the praises of our Risen Lord.

O Risen Christ, source of all life and light, fill our hearts with Your Paschal joy. Grant us the grace to live as instruments of Your Resurrection, spreading Your hope and love until all creation sings Your glorious Alleluia. Amen.
